A defiant president Trump rallied in Phoenix, Arizona as though he was running for president once again. Outside the convention center, thousands of activists gathered to say no to Trump’s embrace of white supremacy and the possibility that he may pardon former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio. On today’s show we’ll go to Phoenix to speak with Maria Castro, a community organizer with Puente Human Rights Movement. Then, writer and activist Antonia Juhasz joins us for an in-depth discussion of non-violence as a successful tactic in organizing against white supremacy. She’s just published an article in the Guardian newspaper about it. Finally, Carolyn Sufrin, an OB-GYN who spent years at the San Francisco County Jail has written a new book called Jailcare: Finding The Safety Net For Women Behind Bars. Sufrin will share the somewhat paradoxical findings of medical care behind bars. Hosted by Sonali Kolhatkar.
