Rising Up In The Streets: March For Our Lives, LA

Well over a million people protested against gun violence last Saturday in 800 marches around the country and world. The March for Our Lives events were spearheaded by student survivors of the Parkland shooting. Here in Southern California where our program is based, our correspondent Nic Cha Kim attended the satellite march in downtown Los Angeles and today we’ll play his special report, part of our Rising Up In the Streets series. Then, we’ll air speeches from the Washington DC march by two young women of color, 11-year old Naomi Wadler and 17-year old Edna Chavez. Finally, investigative journalist Bernice Yeung joins us to discuss her new book about sexual assault of low wage women workers – women often left out of the #MeToo conversations. Her book is called In a Day’s Work: The Fight To End Sexual Violence Against America’s Most Vulnerable Workers.

Hosted by Sonali Kolhatkar.
