Palestine Post w/ Khury Petersen-Smith, Wassim Hage and The Appeal

Defense for Children International Palestine (DCIP) released a report on Monday documenting that, between October 7, 2023, and the end of July of 2024, Israelis killed 141 Palestinian children in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem. That is 1 Palestinian child killed every 2 days. Read the report here: https://assets.nationbuilder.com/dcipalestine/pages/5323/attachments/original/1725884141/Targeting_Childhood_report.pdf?1725884141

We discuss this and other international news developments with Khury Petersen-Smith, Michael Ratner Middle East Fellow at the Institute for Policy Studies, where he researches U.S. empire, borders and migration.

Locally, protestors continue to mobilize for Palestine. Wassim Hage, a local organizer with the Arab Resource and Organizing Center (AROC) brings us an update on the latest actions in the Bay Area. The 26 who were arrested in April and later charged for allegedly blocking traffic on the Golden Gate Bridge in protest of the ongoing genocide in Palestine are calling on San Francisco District Attorney to drop the charges against them. A preliminary hearing for the Golden Gate 26 has been set for 8:30 AM on Monday, September 16.

Lastly, we get an update on the status of the charges being levied against thousands of pro-Palestinian student protesters across the country with two reporters, Meg O’Connor, Senior Reporter for The Appeal, covering police, prosecutors and the criminal legal system, and Ethan Corey, The Appeal’s Research & Projects Editor. The Appeal is actively tracking new campus arrests here: https://theappeal.org/prosecutors-charges-protesters-arrested-gaza-colleges-april/
