Heat wave impacts and supporting the unhoused community w/ Talya Husbands-Hankin; plus Resistance in Residence artist Ayodele Nzinga

On todays show – how is the recent heatwave impacted unhoused community members – we speak with Talya Husbands-Hankin, known to many as ‘Boots’, founder of Love and Justice in the Streets. Then 16 year old Easter Leafa was killed by Anchorage PD on August 13 – the seventh police shooting this summer – we will chat with Wesley Early is an Anchorage city reporter for Alaska Public Media.

Then, we hear from Mizan Alkebulan-Abakah, a Bay Area community organizer, youth development professional, and installation artist. She’s also the co-creater and director of Spearitwurx, an organization that inspires Intergenerational Wellness and Racial Healing through cultural arts, community events, strategic consulting and transformative educational experiences.

Our Resistance in Residence Artist this week is multi-hyphenated artist, actress, producing director, playwright, poet, dramaturg, performance consultant, educator, and community advocate Ayodele Nzinga. Ayodele is also Oakland’s poet laureate.
