Abortion, Bodily Autonomy, and Abolition in Canada; Plus, Resistance in Residence Artist Jerry Law

The US Supreme court has made abortion access much harder by overturning Roe v Wade. Today, we turn to Canada, where persistent threats to reproductive justice include: sexual violence, gun violence, homophobia and transphobia, criminalization of sex work, reproductive oppression of Indigenous women and girls, privatization of fertility health services, and the racism and colonialism of policing and the prison system. I’ll be in conversation with Martha Paynter, whose new book is called Abortion to Abolition: Reproductive Health and Justice in Canada. She reveals how prison abolition is key to the path forward.
