Black Creeks on Indigenous People’s Day; Plus, Resistance in Residence Artist Annie Danger

Today is Indigenous People’s Day, a day we reclaim from Columbus and colonization.

On today’s show, we’ll learn about the story of the Creek Nation, a Native tribe that two centuries ago both owned slaves and accepted Black people as full citizens. Our guest today is Caleb Gayle, whose latest book is called We Refuse To Forget: A True Story of Black Creeks, American Identity, and Power.

This week’s Resistance in Residence Artist is motorcycle-riding multidisciplinary performing artist, transsexual, dyke, and tattoo artist, Annie Danger
