The Golden Gate 26 are back in court this week defending themselves against an array of different charges including felony conspiracy. These activists were arrested for blocking the Golden Gate bridge back in April. The proceedings kicked off this morning with a rally that began at 8:15am. The first hearing will take place at 9am at the San Francisco District Courthouse on 850 Bryant Street. Hearings continue all week through Thursday, October 24th.
We’re joined by Jeff Wozniak, a criminal defense attorney, part of the legal team defending the Golden Gate 26.
The defendants say, “These charges criminalize the very act of organizing itself, and nationwide, prosecutors are leveraging conspiracy charges to threaten and isolate our movements. From the Golden Gate 26 in SF to Cop City 61 in Atlanta, our struggles against Zionism and policing are interconnected.”
