Chain Gang All Stars: Future of the Prison-Industrial Complex; Plus, Resistance in Residence Artist Tama Brisbane

Today is May Day!

On today’s show, we’re in conversation with award winning author Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah about his brand new book Chain Gang All Stars, a novel imagining a near-future where the prison industrial complex has developed a gruesome and widely popular reality show where prisoners are pitted against each other in gladiator death matches. We talk about the story, but also about how readers can use it to imagine an abolitionist future. Chain Gang All Stars will be released on May 2nd.

Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah will be in San Francisco for a Bay Area book release event on May 17th at the Chapel in San Francisco. More details here: https://www.seetickets.us/event/Nana-KwameAdjei-Brenyah/541480
