Abortion Bans Lead to Forced Pregnancy After Rape; Donald Lacy’s Colorstruck; Plus Resistance in Residence Artist Samora Pinderhughes

In states where abortion has been completely banned, more than sixty-four thousand rapes have resulted in force pregnancy, according to a new report titled ‘Rape-Related Pregnancies in the 14 US States With Total Abortion Bans’. Dr Samuel Dickman is one of the researchers and authors of that report, as well as an abortion provider with Planned Parenthood. He joins us to discuss that research.

Then, we’re joined by writer, actor, comedian, director and activist Donald Lacy, whose show Colorstruck: Bridging the Racial Divide in America, the Critical Race Tour brings its renewed version for the new year to the African-American Art and Culture Complex on February 2nd and 3rd, Doors at 7pm, show at 8pm, at 762 Fulton St, San Francisco. “ColorStruck” examines institutionalized racism using comedy, drama, spoken word, visuals, music and movement. For over 14 years “ColorStruck” has toured around the country with yearly updated versions reflecting the current events in our world.

This week’s Resistance in Residence Artist is composer, pianist, vocalist, interdisciplinary artist, and sur-realist, Samora Pinderhughes.
