Oakland’s school board election kerfuffle; Preventing sexual exploitation of girls in Oakland; Plus, anti-war rally on Sun Jan 22

We start today’s show with our weekly State Terror Roundup segment.

Then, Oakland’s most recent school board election from November of 2022 appears rife with error. We speak with Mike Hutchinson, the Oakland school board representative for District 5. Due to redistricting from the city, he ran in our last election cycle for the open seat for Oakland’s District 4 school board position. The initial count said he lost the election, but when the voting registrar ran the numbers more recently, it appears that there was a major counting error, and Mike Hutchinson did actually win. He has since filed a petition with the Alameda County Superior Court to assert him as winner.
