News from Sudan; 1 Year After LA Fires

On this episode, we speak with Dr. Arif Gamal about news from the devastating civil war in Sudan. Dr. Gamal was born and raised in Khartoum, Sudan.  Dr. Arif is a Nubian poet, environmental scholar, and author of Morning in Serra Mattu: A Nubian Ode. After earning a doctorate in environmental science in France, he moved to the U.S. as a Senior Fulbright Scholar at UC Berkeley. Gamal’s work blends storytelling with reflections on history, identity, and the environment. He now lives in Northern California.

 

We also speak with Nic Arnzen, town council member of Altadena, on the 1 year commemoration of the Eaton fire that wiped out the community.

 

We also speak with Walda Katz Fishman, longtime peace activist and writer whose work centers on anti-war organizing, Palestinian solidarity, and movements for global justice, and Jerome Scott, veteran Black liberation organizer and writer, and a founding member of the Black Power movement organization the League of Revolutionary Black Workers — aboutj their upcoming event promoting their book Motown and the Making of Modern Revolutionaries.
