Ronald McDonald House Discriminates Against Incarcerated Families; State Terror Roundup; Plus Resistance in Residence Artist Aya De Leon

We start today’s show with our Thursday segment the State Terror Roundup.

Then, in 2020 the country exploded in protest responding to the murder of George Floyd. One of those protests took place in Sumter, South Carolina in May of 2020 where Brittany Martin was a participant. She joined in  chanting, harmed no one, and destroyed no property. Now she’s serving a four year prison sentence. Joining us to discuss is her husband Eric Kennedy.

Then, a federal complaint has been filed alleging that the Ronald McDonald House is discriminating against people with sick children who were convicted of certain crimes in the past. The ACLU, among other groups, alleges the rule violates the federal Fair Housing Act. Joining us to discuss is Elizabeth Weill-Greenberg, senior reporter for The Appeal, a worker-led nonprofit news organization. She writes on prison and jail conditions, and wrongful convictions.
