Deep dive into state violence and community response

On today’s show – a deep dive into state violence and community response. We start with our first ever weekly State Terror Wrap Up.

Then, we’re joined by Cephus X – affectionately known to the community as Uncle Bobby. He is the uncle of Oscar Grant, who was murdered in on January 1st, 2009, by then-BART police officer Johannes Mehserle, sparking international protest and demands for justice. Uncle Bobby reflects on the community response to the murder of his nephew, and on his journey at the center of a movement to support family members and loved ones of those who’ve been killed by police nationwide, which led him to co-found of the Love Not Blood Campaign which supports families across the globe as they navigate surviving the terror of state violence, as well as and Families United for Justice.

We move the conversation to Arizona, bringing Beatrice X into the conversation. Beatrice X, married to Cephus X, is also a co-founder of the Love Not Blood Campaign.  Beatrice’s sister Dorothy was tragically killed by a drunk driver in Phoenix Arizona and now it appears law enforcement is trying to cover it up.
