Then, after years of sexual assault reports, corruption and other abuse scandals, federal women’s prison FCI Dublin has been ordered closed by a judge. Joining us to discuss are Annie and Jennifer, both advocates with the Dublin Prison Solidarity Coalition and the California Coalition for Women Prisoners. Both of them were previously incarcerated at FCI Dublin, where they were also both sexually assaulted by now-former guards.
Then, the recall effort against Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price moves forward toward a recall election. Joining to discuss is Here to discuss is Jim Sutton, attorney for the DA.
Announcement: A film by one of our former Resistance in Residence Artists – East Bay filmmaker and director, Cady Vogue – has found success in the film festival circuit – it was featured at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival, the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival, the Milwaukee Film Festival, and quite a few more. You now have an opportunity to check out the film yourself in the East Bay. The film, All We Carry, follows one family’s journey as they flee persecution in Honduras, migrating through Mexico and getting imprisoned at the US border for months in immigration detention. Upon release, the family are sponsored by a synagogue in Seattle and cared for by the synagogue community while they await their asylum verdict. The film follows them over three years. You can catch the film this Sunday, April 21st, at 12:30pm at the New Parkway Theater in Oakland, or in a few weeks on Saturday, May 4th at Kehilla Community Synagogue at 7pm in Oakland.
