Dr Sima Samar, is a Hazara woman of the most persecuted ethnic group in Afghanistan, is women’s and human rights advocate, activist and medical doctor who served as the first Minister of Women’s Affairs and was the Chairperson of the Afghan Independent Human Rights Commission. In 2012, she was awarded the Right Livelihood Award.
