We speak with Minneapolis artist/activist Junauda Petrus about the horrors of George Floyd’s murder. George Floyd, 46, an African American man and a Houston native. He moved to Minneapolis several years ago seeking to find a better life. On May, 25, 2020, Mr. Floyd, can be seen in a widely distributed cell phone video on the ground with his hands cuffed behind his back while Officer Derek Chauvin, who is white, pressed his knee on the neck of Mr. Floyd. While on the pavement, Mr. Floyd can be heard saying, “he can’t breathe.” Mr. George Floyd died due to the excessive force used by the Minneapolis Minnesota police department. Since his death, the city of Minneapolis has erupted with protests.
