In cities across the nation, many business owners decided to not conduct business as usual, in response to the national day of action, titled, “A Day Without Immigrants,” a combination boycott/strike aimed at showing how much immigrants contribute to the economy and society.
The action is in direct-response to Donald Trump’s immigration agenda, which includes a pledge to seal the U.S. border with Mexico and a travel ban on citizens of seven majority-Muslim countries. We spoke with Consuela Lopez an organizer, based in Detroit.
