On the 34th episode of A Box of Toys, we look at post-rock. While the term post-rock is limiting and never really stuck in the wider culture, this term could still be used to describe a wide range of bands and artists making ground breaking music outside the convention of the traditional rock format; embracing tones and experimental sounds over chords or riffs.
In fact, many bands that have been played right here on A Box of Toys could be considered under this avant-garde umbrella. And, while post-rock has often been a label leveled by critics against artists outside of existing formats, many of the bands that we will play on this episode self-identify with this genre. Let’s start digging!
