For the goddess of fire and creation: Hula Master Kawika Alfiche, head of Halau Aloha Pumehana ‘O Polynesia, talks about a dance for the goddess Pele that his group will perform as part of the San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival starting June 12th. Learn about this dance company that also teaches the traditonal arts and language of Hawaii. And, Asians Storm Sony Metreon: Global Sight and Sounds. Learn about this event to raise money for music education for disadvantaged children in India put on by Ahimsa. It’s a night of major South Asian electronica that features artist Karsh Kale, Cheb i Sabbah and many more, plus traditional music from the Ali Akbar school of music and Riffat Sultant.
