At least 32 Iraqi fighters are killed in a U.S. raid of a mosque in city of Kufa today; meanwhile, Associated Press report finds that in the first 12 months of the occupation more than five thousand Iraqis have been killed.

Israeli military forces have begun withdrawing from Gaza’s Rafah refugee
camp, and Israel’s justice minister comes under attack for his critique of
the government’s attacks against Palestinians

On the third day of a four day strike action by phone workers, talks continue between SBC Communications and 100,000 phone workers. The workers struck over health care and job security issues

Filmmaker Michael Moore wins the Cannes Film Festival’s top prize for his Fahrenheit 9/11, a blistering indictment of the Bush Administration.
