Etta James Special
KPFA pays tribute to the late great Etta James with a special on her life in music with guest host Afrikahn Jahmal Dayvs starting at 8 pm Monday evening. Featured will be a retrospective of recordings from this Grammy award winning vocalist whose style spanned a variety of genres that included blues, rhythm and blues, jazz, rock n’ roll, soul and gospel. Etta was discovered by the late Johnny Otis and went on to have a career than spanned six decades.
