Jazz giant John Coltrane’s exploration of Indian music in the 1960’s is portrayed through Anthony Brown’s Asian American Orchestra. A talk with Brown about the spirit and sound quest of Coltrane. And, the ethnic press is an endangered media. We talk with Kenji Taguma–editor of the Nichi Bei Times–about the closure of this Japanese American paper that chronicles the community and the possibility of the Times becoming a nonprofit. Also, Toyota’s plant closure, GM, Japan’s changing ties to the US.
