this episode is no longer available

Today we listen to an hour of Hawaiian spirit music to celebrate KPFA’s 60th birthday.  We devote the entire first hour from 10am until 11am to this beautiful music of Hawaii nei.

Around 11:15am, we have a short interview with one of the greatest musicians from Turkey, Omar Faruk Tekbilek, who is in town for a performance at the Herbst Theater on April 30th.  This event is sponsored by the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco.

In the remaining 45 minutes or so, we listen to an eclectic mix of Springtime songs by Richard Thompson, George Harrison, Milton Brown, Mildred Bailey, Howlin' Wolf, and others.

With guest host Sandy Miranda.

Happy Birthday, KPFA!
