The late timbalero/percussionist Manny Oquendo, who passed away on March 25, 2009 at age 78, is honored over the first hour of "In Your Ear."  Oquendo, legendary leader of the band Libre, is one of the most pivotal figures in New York Latin music over the past sixty years having played with the likes of Chano Pozo, Tito Puente, Vicentico Valdes, Tito Rodriguez, Eddie Palmieri, and many others.  He was a moving force behind the influential Grupo Folkorico Y Experímental Nuevayorquíno in the 1970s, as well as his own Libre.
