Voices of the Middle East and North Africa

Voices of the Middle East and North Africa – May 16, 2007

In this week’s program, we will be commemorating 59th anniversary of the 1948 Al Nakba (catastrophe in Arabic) that resulted in violent uprooting of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from their ancestral home. We will hear a talk by History Professor Ilan Pappe about his groundbreaking book entitled "The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine." Professor Pappe gave this talk in Amsterdam, Netherlands earlier this year.

During the program, we will also hear selections from Bouderbala, a music CD by Moroccan Gnawa band Nass Marrakech.

We are in the second week of KPFA’s spring fund drive. To make a pledge to support KPFA 94.1 FM Free Speech Radio and Voices of the Middle East and North Africa, please call (510)848-5732 or (800)439-5732 or pledge securely online at kpfa.org during tonight’s program.
