The Hear and Now – January 29, 2009

Good Things Come in Threes; Horseracing has the Triple Crown; ice hockey has the hat trick; Cincinnati has the chili and spaghetti 3-way. Join Bonnie Simmons and Derk Richardson as they fill the night with their own variations on the triple-play, the Buddhist triple-gem, and David Crosby’s “Triad,” during the first of their, yes, three KPFA winter fund-drive specials. Once again, the Bonnie Simmons Show and the Hear & Now meld into a seamless four hours of musical intrigue and delight. In this case, Bonnie and Derk will fashion three-song sets by their and your favorite musicians. The combinations might include something old, something new, and something live; an original, a cover, and a rarity; three different duets; who knows? The only way to find out is to tune in tonight from 8 p.m. to midnight—and don’t forget to make a pledge to KPFA.
