Sarah Cahill, pianist, concert producer, former KPFA radio programmer, and current KALW radio host (“Then and Now”)–is Derk Richardson’s guest in the first hour of the Hear & Now. She will play selections from her CDs, talk about her eclectic repertoire (Ravel, Ruth Crawford, Henry Cowell, Evan Ziporyn, Ingram Marshall, Kyle Gann, Leo Ornstein), and preview her upcoming Cal Performances concert (3 p.m. Sunday, January 25, Hertz Hall, UC Berkeley), which will include new compositions, written on the theme of peace, from her project A Sweeter Music; Frederic Rzewski’s Peace Dances, Terry Riley’s Be Kind to One Another (Rag), Peter Garland’s After the Wars, Yoko Ono’s Toning, Larry Polansky’s b’midbar, Pauline Oliveros’ A New Indigo Peace, The Residents’ drum no fife, and Preben Antonsen’s Dar al-Harb.
