Plays Monk and Gyan Riley perform live in the KPFA performance studio.
As Plays Monk, clarinetist Ben Goldberg, bassist Devin Hoff, and drummer Scott Amendola put their original spin on the already idiosyncratic compositions of modern jazz icon Thelonious Monk. They’ll play music from their new CD and preview their Feb. 3 concert at the Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse.
Rounding out the live music double-header, guitarist Gyan Riley plays music from his new CD, Melismantra — both solo and in duets with Scott Amendola. He performs Feb. 21 at the Freight.
