The Bay Area’s own Mars Arizona performs its singular Americana-roots blend of folk, bluegrass, and rock live in the KPFA studio.
Nicole Storto and Paul Knowles are the dynamic duo at the core of Mars Arizona, which released its third CD, Hello Cruel World, on Tuesday, Jan. 22. With a guest appearance by mandolin master David Grisman and pedal steel ace Al Perkins, Hello Cruel World includes cover versions of Neil Young’s "Time Fades Away," T. Rex’s "By the Light of the Magical Moon," and Loretta Lynn’s "Blue Kentucky Girl," as well as a passel of thoughtful and lively Storto and Knowles originals.
