Early Morning Music

Early Morning Music (Friday) – August 25, 2006

this episode is no longer available

Hailed by critics such as Leonard Feather and Nat Hentoff as the consummate male jazz singer, Jackie Paris (1924-2004) lived in relative obscurity throughout most of his career. Being the only jazz singer to have toured with the Charlie Parker Quintet that included Miles Davis and Max Roach, Jackie Paris was also Charles Mingus’s favorite singer. This morning’s show will feature selections from different albums that Jackie made during his career including some with Charles Mingus.
