An interview with the late, great alto saxophonist Jackie McLean will be aired on "In Your Ear" this saturday from 4-6pm on KPFA, 94.1fm. The 1988 interview was conducted by program host Art Sato and Horace Mansfield, Jr. and finds McLean weaving story after fascinating story, revealing his relationship with musicians such as Bud Powell, Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, and many others. The concluding hour of the special will air on April 15, 4-5pm. The legendary musician/educator passed away last week at age 74.
