Voices of the Middle East and North Africa – December 28, 2005

On this week’s program, we will hear a talk by the late Edward Said of Columbia University given on April 16, 2003 on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the publication of his groundbreaking and seminal book "Orientalism," Professor Said evokes the birth and impact of this book, and contextualizes it in relation to today’s socio-political climate.

Later in the program, we will hear the second part of an interview with Amazigh Kateb, leader of the great Algerian fusion band, Gnawa Diffusion, which was aired
earlier this year.
