Election results released today say Iraqi Shiites have gotten the most
votes in their country’s elections. But they didn’t get two-thirds, which
would have allowed them to form a government on its own. So far 12 parties have qualified for seats in the temporary National Assembly.

Police officers and hospital officials say militant attacks in the Iraqi
Capital and the city of Mosul have left at least eleven people dead as the insurgency continues to grow after the election.

Iran rejects a European demand to give up heavy water plant and vows to become a key nuclear fuel supplier

The Richmond City Council will hear a proposal this week to transfer
oversight responsibilities for two of Richmond’s industrial properties to a more stringent department of the California Environmental Protection Agency
