In April 1969, The Band played a now-legendary three-night run at Winterland in San Francisco. Celebrating the 45th anniversary of those shows, Bay Area guitarist-singer-bandleader Johnny Harper has put together a tribute with his band Carnival. Tonight, on the Hear and Now, hosted by Derk Richardson, listen to Johnny Harper & Carnival perform live in the KPFA studio, playing songs from The Band’s classic catalog. It’s a preview of their concert coming up Saturday, May 10, in San Francisco at SF Live Arts at Cyprian’s (2097 Turk St.).
