Today, the Ohlone community in the East Bay has no land base. They are not federally recognized and have been politically and economically marginalized. The Sogorea Te’ Land Trust cultivates rematriation.
Sogorea Te’ calls on us all to heal and transform the legacies of colonization, genocide, and patriarchy and to do the work our ancestors and future generations are calling us to do. In this episode, we explore the Shuumi Land Tax with Araceli Nuñez Lee, program coordinator with the Sagorea Te Land Trust. Araceli is an undocumented resident on Ohlone land where she’s lived for about 20 years.
