In this episode we focus on the local environmental impact of West Oakland’s Schnitzer Steel Factory, which has poured chemicals into the areas airways for many years. Earlier in August, the factory experienced a significant toxic fire. Joining us to discuss is Ms. Margaret Gordon, co-founder and co-director of the West Oakland Environmental Indicators Project (WOEIP). and a lifetime local community activist who has been collaborating with neighborhood organizations, physicians, researchers, and public officials to ensure West Oakland residents enjoy a clean environment.
