KPFA Presents

Native Hawaiian Musician and Water Protector Hāwane Rios

For the month of May, KFPA radio is celebrating Asian Pacific American Heritage month! The Powerleegirls from APEX Express will be hosting a series of shorts on Asian American activists – both elder and present day change makers – and making some guest appearances.

In this short, the Powerleegirls present Hāwane Rios, Native Hawaiian singer, songwriter, and water protector. She is one of the leaders of the movement to protect Mauna Kea and talks about the importance of remembering you own stories and history.
