Redevelopment is afoot in East Oakland with proposals that could further gentrification. Both Eastmont Mall and Mills College are historic spaces that are being targeted for market rate condos and retail. In this episode, we spoke with Leah Simon-Weisberg, Legal Director of The Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment (ACCE) Action as well as Shay Franco-Clausen, a Mills alumni who has been part of a lawsuit students filed against the school for issues related to its closure.
