Movement-building with Oscar Grant’s uncle Cephus X aka Uncle Bobby

On today’s episode we are joined by Cephus X – affectionately known to the community as Uncle Bobby. He is the uncle of Oscar Grant, who was murdered in on January 1st, 2009, by then-BART police officer Johannes Mehserle, sparking international protest and demands for justice. Uncle Bobby reflects on the community response to the murder of his nephew, and on his journey at the center of a movement to support family members and loved ones of those who’ve been killed by police nationwide, which led him to co-found of the Love Not Blood Campaign which supports families across the globe as they navigate surviving the terror of state violence, as well as and Families United for Justice.
