Donald Trump has claimed the “absolute right” to pardon himself and also claimed he can pardon anyone he likes, in his on-going defensive posture toward Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation. The wild claims come at the same time that Mueller has accused Trump’s former campaign chair Paul Manafort with witness tampering, which will likely lead to jail time for Manafort. On our show today we’ll turn to Common Cause’s Stephen Spaulding for more. Then, as we enter “pride month” in June, a new Gallup poll shows a historically high support for gay marriage. We’ll spend the second half of our show with Cory Albertson who has explored how television shows have influenced American attitudes toward LGBT rights for good or ill.
