The Republican budget bill passed last week, which some are calling the largest wealth distribution to the wealthy in history. We’ll speak with W. Kamaul Bell who is a stand-up comic, commentator, performer and former host of CNN’s United Shades of America. He’s in the middle of his national Who’s With Me? comedy tour which premiered at the Berkeley Rep last month.
Then we’ll go to US representative Lateefah Simon. Simon is currently serving her first term in Congress as the Representative of the 12th district of California representing the East Bay. Congresswoman Simon is a vocal supporter against the Republican so-called Big Beautiful Bill that she says will cause upwards of 40,000 people in her district to lose access to healthcare.
We’ll wrap up John Nichols, the National Affairs correspondent for The Nation and associate editor of The Capital Times.
Our Resistance in Residence artist is playwright Leelee Jackson, who writes postmodern narratives of the African diaspora. Her play Comb Your Hair (Or You’ll Look Like a Slave) was featured earlier previously at BAMBD Fest.
