First 100+ Days w/ Congresswoman Lateefah Simon; Alameda Co Public Defender Block Party; Plus Resistance in Residence Artist Ryan Nicole

We’ll spend the first portion of our hour today in conversation with Lateefah Simon, the Bay Area congresswoman representing California’s 12th District, which includes the cities of Oakland, Berkeley, Emeryville, Alameda, Albany, Piedmont, and most of San Leandro. We’ll discuss her first 100-plus days as a representative within the current federal political climate, and what she hopes to achieve now that she has begun to establish herself.

Then, we’re joined by Brendon Woods, the first Black Chief Public Defender of Alameda County and has served as the president of the California Public Defenders Association. We’ll speak with him about Alameda County’s public defense system and current context, while their office gets ready to host a community block party
