A new campaign for traffic safety kicks off today with a legislative briefing which will gather leg staffers, reps and community groups. Its name – Cops Out of Traffic. We are joined by Haleema Baroocha, a transportation policy safety expert, working currently with the Anti Police Terror Project to champion legislation promoting equitable roads and decarceration of transportation.
We spend the rest of our hour together steeped in art and activism. We start with Jennifer Johns, a powerhouse, vocalist, songwriter, producer, activist, and entrepreneur who creates sounds, experiences, and products that are sure to stir your soul, inspire your mind and move your body.
Then, one of Oakland’s events of the year this Saturday – Life is Living is back. We are joined by the event’s founder Hodari Davis – also the founding partner in Edutainment for Equity and the former Program Director of Youth Speaks.
This week’s Resistance in Residence Artist is motorcycle-riding multidisciplinary performing artist, transsexual, dyke, and tattoo artist, Annie Danger.
