Then, we go to Antioch, where the city has committed to creating a 911 emergency response program that does not involve police. We’re joined by Antioch City Councilmember Tamisha Torres-Walker, as well as Elliott Jones, the program coordinator for Oakland’s MACRO non-police 911 emergency response program.

Then we go to the front lines of the Oakland teachers’ strike to hear the latest in their bid for a fair contract with the Oakland Unified School District. We’re joined by Kampala Taiz-Rancifer, the Vice President of the Oakland Education Association and a founding member of the Black Women’s Caucus. The Oakland Education Association represents nearly 3,000 K-12 teachers, Counselors, Psychologists, Social Workers, Speech Pathologists, Early Childhood Educators, Nurses, Adult Education Teachers, and Teacher Substitutes.
