It's Going Down

Ammon Bundy is Building a far-Right Network to Attack Tribal Treaty and Water Rights

On It’s Going Down, we speak with Chuck Tanner of the Institute for Research and Education on Human Rights (IREHR) about the People’s Rights Network, a collection of far-Right activists led by Ammon Bundy, famous for participating in armed standoffs in various states. Currently, Bundy is pushing for more water access to ranchers hit hard by the drought in Southern Oregon and against the treaty and water rights of Native tribes in the Klamath Basin. We discuss both Bundy and the People’s Rights Network, their far-Right ideology based around the concept of the power of “Constitutional Sheriffs,” backed up by a militia or “posse,” as well as their open embrace of attacking Native sovereignty and rights. With global warming only further impacting water usage and food production, such struggles will only continue to intensify.
