On January 1, 2021, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced his appointment of a new rector at Isatnbul’s Boğaziçi University, one of Turkey’s most prestigious universities. The appointment trampled a long-standing tradition of electing rectors from within the university. In the second part of their interview Ayça Alemdaroğlu and Elif Babül discuss the context for the Turkish government’s assault on Bogacizi University and Institutions of higher education, as well as the reasons behind those actions by the government.
