We discuss what it says about Asian American representation. Dong directed Hollywood Chinese, the seminal documentary chronicling the Chinese in American feature films. Arthur recently published his first book Forbidden City, USA: Chinatown Nightclubs, 1936-1970 based on his film on the same topic. He is currently working on his next book A Hollywood Chinese Album, a pictorial companion to Hollywood Chinese.
