We spend the first half of the show on live reaction to the Wisconsin primary results, then go into what can only be described as a massacre at KGO: the nation’s news/talk format pioneer spent 27 years as the most highly-rated radio station in the Bay Area, now the giant chain that purchased it has cut so deep that it doesn’t have a single reporter left to send out of the studios. We’ll look at what that has to do with Wall Street, de-regulation, and cheap credit.
Guests:
- Ruth Conniff, editor-in-chief of The Progressive
- Fred Lowell, an attorney who was a California delegate to every National Republican Convention from 1992 through 2004
- Terri Hardesty, reporter with KGO for three years ending last week; she’s blogging here
- Claudia Lamb, worked in the KGO news department from 2007 to 2011 – and wrote a scathing take on what led to last week’s massacre there
