Non-fiction Music is a free-form journey through the night which frequently starts with blues then spins off into jazz of all types, rock, folk, soul, funk, oldies with touches of classical, world and poetry.
Joel Sachs, a retired construction laborer, has been volunteering at KPFA since 1976. He has done a variety of programs including a ragtime show, a San Francisco news magazine and a program showcasing live music of many types. He was one of the hosts on the long-running “Music In America” roots music series. He has also spent many years doing tech assistance for live music broadcasts on other shows before taking over Thursday AM’s “Non-fiction Music” and “Early Morning Music” in March 2012.
