Vienna Teng performs live on The Hear and Now, 10 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 28

Vienna Teng at The Independent, SF, by Opusdeiphotography

In advance of her concerts at the Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse in Berkeley, Dec. 29 & 30, singer-songwriter Vienna Teng will perform live on The Hear and Now in the KPFA performance studio, hosted by Derk Richardson. The Northern California native and former software engineer has recorded five albums, plus collaborations with Alex Wong and Tanya Shaffer. She tours less frequently since receiving her MBA/MS from the Erb Institute for Global Sustainable Enterprise and going to work in the sustainable energy field, so her KPFA performance, engineered by Tony Ferro, and Freight appearances are not to be missed by her Bay Area fans.

In the second hour of The Hear and Now, Derk’s tribute to the beloved musician Ralph Carney continues with more live music from His Serious Jass Project and Oranj Symphonette, recorded in concert by Lee Brenkman and Jim Bennett, respectively.
